Gathering: Handcrafted Fall Jewelry Inspired by Connection & Place

Gathering: Handcrafted Fall Jewelry Inspired by Connection & Place

Studio Summary: The Gathering Collections by Anne Vaughan Designs features handcrafted fall gemstone jewelry inspired by autumn in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Made in our Floyd, Virginia studio, each piece combines antique brass, warm neutral gemstones, and earth-toned accents designed for effortless fall layering. The collections officially releases on Monday, September 14, 2026.

There is a natural rhythm to the seasons, and here in the Blue Ridge Mountains, we feel that rhythm deeply. Our studio is tucked into the rolling hills of Floyd, Virginia, where the transition from summer into fall feels tangible. The brilliant greens of summer slowly begin to turn, the first leaves change along the ridgelines, and the evenings arrive just a little earlier. Gathering, the inspiration behind our new fall jewelry collection, grew from this sense of transition—a season of returning, reconnecting, and settling in.

Spring and summer tend to pull us outward. They are seasons of growth, activity, travel, long days, and seemingly endless possibility. Fall feels different. Vacations and time away begin to wind down, and all of us at the studio start returning to a familiar rhythm together. Our fall workflow takes shape, new designs fill the tables, and there is a renewed sense of purpose as we begin creating for the months ahead. Before the energy of the holidays and the quiet of winter arrive, there is this beautiful in-between moment when we can simply gather.

What inspires the design of our Floyd, Virginia artisan jewelry studio?

Living and creating in Floyd makes that feeling especially meaningful. Fall here means cooking with local apples, heading into the mountains for a hike with crisp leaves beneath our feet, and gathering around a bonfire with friends as the temperature drops. It is opening the windows to cool morning air, watching the hills change color almost daily, and returning to the people, places, and small rituals that make somewhere feel like home. Those experiences inevitably find their way into what we create at the workbench.

What materials are used in handcrafted fall gemstone jewelry?

You can see these mountain experiences reflected directly in the colors, textures, and materials of our handcrafted fall jewelry:

Antique Brass Accents: Provides a warm, weathered finish that carries the familiarity of a piece with a history.
Layered Gemstones & Earth Tones: Warm amber, rich brown, and grounded earthy neutrals capture late-afternoon autumn light and fallen leaves.
Earthy Blues & Greens: We still embrace our signature blue and green gemstones, but paired with autumn tones, they take on an organic, reflective character.
Each hand-wired necklace, bracelet, and pair of earrings is designed to reflect the landscape around us: layered, imperfect, colorful, and constantly changing.

How do gemstone colors evoke memory and connection?

For us, color has always been about more than what looks beautiful together—color carries memory. A deep green gemstone can instantly take us back to a favorite Blue Ridge trail. A warm amber or brown recalls fallen leaves and golden hours. Through Gathering, we wanted our artisan gemstone jewelry to evoke those same grounding emotions—to create pieces you are drawn to not simply because of how they look, but because of how they make you feel.

When does the Gathering Collection release?
